Concrete

Concrete: Lightweight Pumice Aggregate and Sand

Lightweight Concrete Aggregate: Lightweight pumice aggregate for craft-type precast concrete projects—including statuary, containers, pavers—where a smaller aggregate size (3/8 to 1/8-inch stones with some fines/sand) is desirable.

Lightweight Pumice Sand: Pumice sand + (includes) tiny 1/8-inch stones. Use in lighweight mortars and as an additive to the craft aggregate when more sand content is desired. Also used for lightweight insulative plasters.

Concrete Canoe: National Concrete Canoe Competition (NCCC) Teams: We field scores of inquiries each NCCC season about sourcing our lightweight pumice aggregate and natural pozzolans. Here’s what you need.

Concrete: Performance-Enhancing Pumice Pozzolan

Densifier325™ Standard Pozz: A highly-effective natural pozzolan for precast concrete products as well as formed-and-cast concrete construction like walls, piers and foundations. Used in shotcretes, cementitious grouts, plasters, mortars. Densifier325™ is a must in regions with reactive aggregates that cause ASR and in locations with high-sulfate soils or in applications subject to sulfate and/or chloride attacks. Also effective in high abrasive and freeze-thaw environments.

UltraPozz: An ultrafine (3 micron) pozzolan for high-performance precast concrete products, especially glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) panels and other architectural accent pieces. Also used in ultrafine cementitious grout formulations.

Abrasives: Cleaning & Polishing

Abrasive Scrub: CleanCut™ Pumice Scrub

Pumice Scrub Powder: Sprinkle CleanCut onto a wet non-scratch scrub pad and effectively clean stubborn hard water mineral spots and stains from glass and ceramic (porcelain, viteous china) surfaces.

Finish and Polish: Sedoso™ Fine Finishing Grit

Fine Pumice Finish Rub Powder: It’s really all about the finish. The care and effort in the final micro-sanding and rubbing steps in finishing wood (or metal) is what takes the visual quality of a piece from average to amazing. Liquid finishes, whether applied with a spray gun (micro-bumps) or brush (drag ridges), never cure perfectly flat. And then there’s the dust motes drifting down and rooting into the curing surface. Rubbing up the finish with a superfine abrasive knocks down those flaws and greatly improves surface appearance, especially when lit.

Abrasive Stone: Shaped Scrubbing Stones

Shaped Scrubbing Stones: The wonderful abrasive properties of pumice are pressed and formed into a useful, hand-held stone. Countless microscopic cutting edges put into play with a bit of scrubbing effort will remove hard water stains and deposits on ceramic and porcelain surfaces. The beauty of cleaning with a pumice stone is that the abrasive benefit isn’t just glued to the surface. Even if you work the Pumouse™ down to a nubbin, it still works its abrading magic.

Abrasives: Sand Blast Media

Sand Blast Grit: Available in four grades from our standard Sand Blast Heavies to fine. Pumice sand provides a less aggressive, low-etch bite to clean and prepare surfaces of all types, especially softer surfaces and those with cast, carved or sculpted details. Also great for small, detailed parts.

Exfoliant

Exfoliant: Exfoliating Powder for Scrubs, Soaps, Creams

Magma™ is a fine pumice powder that pairs with your favorite beauty product, giving you full control over the exfoliating effect—just add less or more depending on skin type and the task at hand.

Exfoliant: Exfoliating Pumice Stones

The Pumouse™ is a shaped exfoliating stone ideal for gently abrading away calluses and smoothing rough patches of skin. The tear-drop shaped Pumouse—with its rounded top and flat bottom—works great in the hand.

Hand Cleaner: Keith's

Keith’s Hand Cleaner is a wonderful combination of pure soap, skin conditioners, and fine pumice, available for purchase from the Pumice Store.

Horticulture

Soil Amendment and Conditioner: SoilRox™

Amend the physical profile of poorly-structured native soils—especially heavy clay soils—opening up pore spaces to greatly improve drainage and aeration (gas exchange) in the root zone. Condition and enhance soil function by improving the capture, hold and time-release curve of moisture and nutrients back to the roots.

Soilless Grow Media: Ponics Stone™

Ultra-efficiency soilless grow systems demand high-performance grow media. Ponics Stone™ delivers in the key areas of stability, nutrient holding capacity, gas exchange, drainage, weight, media particle size, crop balance and media life.

Compost Enhancement: Compost Amender

Enhances compost on two levels: by improving the biological composting processes, and then providing in-soil structural improvements to poor native soils, functioning long after the organic compost elements are consumed.

Rutsu™ Grow Media: for Bonsai

Naturally pure pumice stone, dried and graded for Bonsai soil media.

Rutsu™ Grow Media: for Cacti and Succulents

Naturally pure pumice stone, dried and graded for growing cacti and succulents.

HORTICULTURAL PUMICE PURITY DISCLAIMER—Our horticultural mine grades are typically comprised of 98% pumice and 2% other igneous minerals, which are not removed through our mining processes.

HESS PERLITE: Expanded Horticultural Perlite

Physiochemically, expanded perlite is closely related to pumice. For horticultural use, perlite ore is crushed and screened to grade, flash-heated and expanded into light frothy particles. Our horticultural perlite is available in 8-quart resealable bags.

Livestock and Pets

Livestock and Pets: Dust Bathing Critters

ChillDust™ is a pure and natural bathing dust that provides your chinchillas and degus with both the means to keep that lush fur coat in primo condition and the flipping, spinning, effusive joy that comes with it.

Livestock and Pets: Chew Stones

Chewlas™ are natural pumice stones that provide your Rodentia-order (gnawing) pet with the ideal abrading surface to keep claws and teeth naturally worn down to a healthy length. Chewlas also make great in-cage play toys to push around, and providing a chew stone can save the gnawing wear and tear on other parts of the habitat.

Livestock and Pets: Grooming Stones

The Pumouse™ is a shaped pumice grooming stone perfect for short-haired critters. Shaped to fit sweetly onto the hand, the bazillions of microscopic edges packed into the stone gently scrape away shed hair, dirt, and oily gunk.

Texturizer

Texturizer: for Primers and Paints and Non-Skid Coatings

Dimension Grit™ Bite Grades (3) are in-suspension grip agents for texturizing coated surfaces. Finer grades give tooth to primers that prepare gypsum wall board surfaces to take thin-coat interior plasters. Also for paints where a subtle texture is desired. The larger-grit grades are added to paints, epoxies, and floor coatings where a roughened, traction-worthy texture is desired.

Functional Filler and Extender

Functional Filler: Non-Crystalline Silica (NCS)

Hess NCS: Micronized pumice (amorphous aluminum silicate) grades that are non-hazardous (crystalline silica free to the detectable limit of .05%), inert, near white, with a pH of 7.2. Hess NCS grades work as performance functional fillers and extenders for architectural paints and stains, industrial coatings, rubber compounds, plastics/fiberglass compounds, expoxies, and caulks. Available in five grades ranging from 3 microns to 12 microns (average particle size).

Attenuator

Attenuator: Explosive Blast Mitigating Material

Blast Mitigator™ is a lightweight, non-reactive, non-crystalline energy-attenuating natural material for a variety of blast mitigation applications. last Mitigator™ can be used as a loose fill in a double-walled space or combined with a resin binder for shaped applications.
